LEAH W. HURWITZ
Shareholder / Attorney (Retired)
Ms. Hurwitz, the former managing partner of Law Offices of Leah W. Hurwitz, APLC, which she founded in 1980, and now retired partner at Hurwitz Holt, APLC, has represented clients with their immigration matters since 1980. Through her experience with the U.S. Consulates around the world, numerous Immigration Courts, and United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) processing centers throughout the country, she has the proven expertise in immigration law to see and overcome the many hurdles and obstacles that would otherwise impede the aspirations of her clients. As a dual national (Mexican and U.S.) and a first generation United States citizen, she understands the sensitive nature of the immigration process.
Ms. Hurwitz has a rich history of experience and service within the Immigration law community of San Diego. Ms. Hurwitz has served within the Immigration Section of the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) as secretary and vice-president and served within the San Diego County Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) as secretary and treasurer. Ms. Hurwitz has guest lectured on Immigration law at the University of San Diego School of Law and currently serves as an AILA mentor for other immigration attorneys. Ms. Hurwitz was a celebrated speaker at AILA's Conference on Immigration Law Basics in 2000 and at the National Business Institute's Conference on Critical Updates for Immigration Law Practitioners in 2008. In 2010, she participated as a faculty member for a National Broadcast Audio Seminar regarding inadequate inspection cases in 2010. She was also part of the faculty for the 2013 American Immigration Attorneys California Conference as a panelist for strategies for "Non-immigrant athletes, artists, and entertainers." She was rated a 2013 "Top Attorney" by the San Diego Daily transcript, and in 2016, she was a panelist for the Business/Naturalization (Fundamentals) Derivative Citizenship panel at the 2016 AILA national conference.
We congratulate Ms. Hurwitz on her extensive work changing peoples lives through her hard work in the immigration field and wish her the best in her retirement.
